It's time to hear what Slate brings to the table vs other LA2A emulations

Slate Digital FG-2A vs Waves CLA-2A Compressor…here we go.

There’s been a lot of buzz since Slate Digital released their FG-2A (an LA2A emulation). There aren’t many companies who haven’t taken a shot at releasing their version of the LA-2A:

  • Waves: CLA-2A
  • IK Multimedia: White 2A
  • Native Instruments: VC-2A
  • UAD Teletronix LA-2A
  • etc

(The Comprexxor is a nice blend between an Opto and FET Compressor)

Not to mention, there are lots of companies that offer free LA2A compressor plugins out there as well. Some are better than others, but all are usable and have their own special textures.

  • Male Rap Vocal
  • Female Vocal
  • Acoustic Guitar

I like this test regardless of the levels being matched or not. Modern-sounding music being used as a medium/demo is a good switch-up. Dry drum tracks need to be booted! In fact, just don’t do a damn video review or audio if you’re displaying within the context of music.

This is a great test with nice guitar tones, It’s gain matched and has a blind compressor test at the end.
