EP1A Tube EQ & NUKE

Kiive Audio is a new company on our radar based out of Canada. They’ve made some great-sounding plugins like Tape Face and S-Quick Strip and have been expanding quickly.

At the moment, Kiive Audio is offering NUKE and Warmy EP1A Tube EQ as free downloads. Grab these while you can; they may decide to charge later.

EP1A Tube EQ Tube EQ (Pultec Emulation)

The EP1A Tube EQ is an emulation of the traditional Pultec EQ. Great for adding musical boosts and cuts as well as giving air and presence to your music. This is the 2nd interaction of the Warmy EQ, which has gone through a remodel, including a new toolbar, a better tube sounding, and a new DSP.

Its magic stems from going against the manufacturer’s advice, which is boosting and cutting simultaneously. The way it handles the two is what makes it unique.

EQ Features

  • 16x Oversampling
  • 20 Badass presets to fiddle with
  • Low Cut
  • Low Boost
  • High Boost
  • High Cut
  • Bandwidth Controls

Kiive Audio Warmy EQ vs. Pultec Hardware

There are already lots of tributes and clones of the famous Pultec EQ, and that’s not a complaint. It’s always interesting to hear different takes on a quite iconic sound.

Kiive Audio – Xtressor NUKE

Xtressor NUKE is based on the Xtressor plugin, which, in turn, emulates the Distressor hardware compressor by Empirical Labs. So, what we’re getting is a free VST plugin version of the legendary Distressor.

NUKE is the Compressor/Limiter section of Kiive Audio’s Xtressor, which emulates the Distressor compressor. It’s based on the same coding and algorithm, just stripped down and simpler to manage as it has a lot fewer features.

I feel offering a free version of the Xtressor was a smooth marketing move. Everyone loves free plugins they can use vs free plugins with disabled features that have to be unlocked.

“Make your drums explode with this gritty compressor, and use its three release modes to add edge and punch to your mix. Plus, the adjustable Sc HPF makes NUKE super versatile- throw it on any mix!” -Kiive Audio

NUKE Features

Auto Gain: Automatically compensates your in and out settings

3 Release Settings: Slow, Normal, and Fast

HPF: Simple high-pass filter
