Arturia Pigments 3 Announced!: New Sounds, Engines and FX
Arturia is raising the bar pretty high with this update
Arturia upgrades their revolutionary software ‘Pigments’ to version 3 (Pigments 3) with an introductory price of $99. This offer will end on May 13th, 2021.
If you were an early adopter of Pigments, this upgrade is free to you. So, login and activate!
What’s New In Arturia Pigments 3?
Two new engines and updated to wavetable libraries. 64 new Wavetables bringing the total number of wavetables to 164, better filters. Let’s dive into a few of these updates.
4 Brand New FX
There are four brand-new effects built into pigments free. This brings the total number of total FX to 18. More filters, more power!
Multi-Band Compressor: I remember this being one mentioned multiple times throughout the community. Can we say OTT is now within Arturia PIGMENTS 3? Maybe I’m pushing that too far there, but…maybe? KiloHearts sure did it with their Dynamics Plugin.
BL-20 Flanger: I liked the emulation they’ve created, it has a great sound. Being able to access a built-in version is one of the cherries on top. I don’t mind loading the emulation but love freeing up resources anyway I can.
Pitch Delay: Said to have a new modern algorithm. I’m not sure what that means, but it does have a good sound to it. And, is very useful when creating those lush ambient soundscapes.
Chorus Juno 6: Taken from Arturia’s Juno 6 emulation. Hard not to love its sound.
The Tutorial Section
If you click on the Cog icon you’ll notice there is a new tab labeled tutorials. It’s here where you can find a step-by-step walkthrough of Pigments’ major features.
I thought it was going to be all text-based, thankfully it’s not. The tutorials are visual/interactive where each part of the synth is highlighted and you have to perform specific actions before moving on to the next step.
This is definitely not a replacement for YouTube but as an ‘in program’ function, it’s perfect, especially for those who hate reading manuals (raises hand).
